1H DOSY analysis of high molecular weight acrylamide-based copolymer electrolytes using an inverse-geometry diffusion probe

Abstract Copolymers of [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride (AETAC) and acrylamide (AAm) (AETAC- co -AAm) are polyelectrolytes used as flocculants in wastewater purification. Diffusion-ordered two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy (DOSY) experiments for AETAC- -AAm samples with M w ranging from 1.9 to 3.9 million a polyacrylamide sample 1.3 were carried out pure D 2 O containing 0.1 or 1 NaCl using an inverse-geometry diffusion probe system. Projections the DOSY contour plots onto coefficient ( ) dimension gave distributions AETAC AAm units samples. The values at maximum point distribution p agreed fairly well those determined by dynamic light scattering.
